Busan

In Choryang-dong, Busan, there is a large Chinese residential area with many Chinese stores, and it is called Shanghai Street. Shanghai Street was designated as the only Chinatown Special Zone in Korea in 2007. This street has recently become a famous place for domestic and international travelers as Chinese restaurants and dumpling shops run by Chinese people have been introduced through TV and various media. The Busan Chinatown Special Zone Cultural Festival is held here every year. Upon entering the street, Chinese-style red lanterns and a central archway welcome travelers with a completely new atmosphere. You can easily find pavilion-shaped buildings built in the Chinese style, and there are statues and explanatory texts of figures from Chinese history all over the place.
