About
About
It is located on the coast of Deokmyeong-ri, Hai-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do. It was designated as a county park on November 10, 1983. The coastal terrain eroded by waves went inland, forming a sea cliff, and the flat rock layer in front of it is a wave-cut platform. Dinosaur footprints are clearly imprinted on the wave-cut platform in front of Sangjokam. The sea cliff is a layered, water-based rock like a rice cake. It is called Sangjoka because it looks like a table leg, and Ssangjoka because it resembles several legs. There is a cave deep in the cliff, and the inside of the cave is a labyrinth eroded by waves, so it is very varied. The dinosaur footprints discovered in 1982 were designated Natural Monument No. 411 in 1999. 150 million years ago, this area was a lakeside swamp, and dinosaurs lived there in groups, leaving footprints. Then, as sediments were piled up on top, they hardened into rock. Then, as the stratum rose, the sediments were washed away by the waves, revealing the dinosaur footprints.
