About

About
It has long been one of the most famous mountains and rivers in the country, and has been a place for national rites. Although the size of Mt. Sokri is not that large, Mt. Sokri National Park actually covers a very large area, so mountains such as Baekaksan, Myobong, Chilbosan, Daeyasan, and Gunjasan are also included in the area of Mt. Sokri National Park. These mountains also have outstanding scenery. And just outside the national park area, mountains such as Mt. Heeyangsan, Mt. Gubyeongsan, Mt. Cheonghwasan, and Mt. Johangsan stand out with their pure white rock walls, so the view from the peak and the ridge is also very good. It may look like a rugged rocky mountain, but because it is a national park, the hiking trails are very well-maintained, so it is not very difficult to climb. It is a mountain with various strangely shaped rocks, and it can be called a paradise of rocks, and the granites are trimmed into various imaginable shapes, beautifully decorating the mountain. If you walk along the hiking trail between the rocky peaks, you will encounter all sorts of strangely shaped rocks and pass through small tunnels. If you want to truly feel the charm of Mt. Sokri, it is worth walking. The valley you walk along before you climb the mountain is also beautiful, and there is a well-maintained walking trail called Sejo-gil along the valley to the pond upstream.
The hiking trails are mainly divided into the hiking trail from Beopjusa Temple and the hiking trail from Hwabuk-myeon, Sangju-si. The scenery of Munjangdae is better than that of Cheonwangbong Peak, the main peak, so Munjangdae is more popular. Of course, if you have the stamina and time, you can climb both Munjangdae and Cheonwangbong Peak, but if you are not confident in your stamina and can only climb one, I recommend climbing Munjangdae.
Among the rocks on Mt. Sokri, there is a rock called Geulbangbawi. There is a legend that it is derived from the Ulsanbawi legend, which says that the person was going to Geumgangsan but was late and stayed at Seoraksan. There is a legend that Geulbangbawi, who was on his way to become the 12,000 peak of Geumgangsan and was about to take a short break at Sokrisan, heard the news that all 12,000 rocks had gathered at Geumgangsan and was unable to go anywhere, so he had no choice but to settle down at Sokrisan.
