About
About
Sangrim is a forest of trees located along the stream of Wicheon flowing west of Hamyang-eup. It is said that the forest was created by the great scholar Choi Chi-won when he was the governor of Hamyang during the reign of Queen Jinseong of Silla. At that time, the current Wicheon River flowed through the center of Hamyang-eup, and it is said that flood damage was severe. Choi Chi-won built a dam to divert the river water to its current location, built a dam along the riverbank, and planted trees along the dam to create the forest that continues to this day. At that time, this forest was named Daegwanrim and was well protected, so it was able to sufficiently prevent flood damage. The beauty of Sangrim can be enjoyed in all four seasons, such as the fresh green of spring, the green of summer, the red leaves of fall, and the snowy landscape of winter. In particular, in the summer, if you spread a mat and lie down in the shade of the trees in Sangrim, you can feel the spirit of freshness in the city. Additionally, you can easily find the secluded paths in the forest of Sangrim being used as places for conversation and love by lovers and families.
