Gyeongbokgung Palace is the royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty located in Sajik-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul. It was founded in 1395, burned down in the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, and rebuilt in 1868 under the leadership of Heungseon Daewongun. Gyeongbokgung Palace was the center of Hanyang with buildings placed on a wide terrain with Baekaksan Mountain (Bukaksan Mountain) as the main mountain, and a wide Yukjo Street in front of Gwanghwamun, the main gate. . Here, during the reign of King Sejong, Hunminjeongeum was created and promulgated. Gyeongbokgung Palace had four main gates to the north, south, east and west, with Geunjeongjeon in the center, Donggung and Jajeon to the east, and Gwolnaegaksa and Gyeonghoeru to the west.
