This is a famous gomtang restaurant with a history and tradition that rarely reproduces proper gomtang in Korea. Since Hadongkwan operates with long-time regulars as its main customers, it operates according to its own unique rules. Since it has been operating like this for a long time, regulars tend to just pass by, but new customers have a hard time adapting to Hadongkwan's operating style, and as a result, it has become a representative restaurant with poor service. For example, Hadongkwan does not provide delivery service in principle, so you have to visit in person. People who are not regulars have to study the menu in advance through the internet or regular acquaintances and calculate what to eat and how to eat before going. As it has a long history, it has also been a place visited by many famous people. It is said that President Park Chung-hee enjoyed Hadongkwan gomtang during his term and until his death in 1979, and once ordered that Hadongkwan gomtang be delivered to Jeju by helicopter, and enjoyed dinner with his subordinates there. And it is known that Presidents Kim Young-sam and Kim Dae-jung also enjoyed Hadongkwan Gomtang, and it is said that Gomtang was even delivered to the Blue House.
