2024 Jinju Namgang Lantern Festival

The Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival originated from the Japanese invasions of Korea in the Battle of Jinjuseong, 

where lanterns were floated on the Namgang River to prevent the Japanese army from crossing the river and to convey greetings to their families.

It is a prestigious festival that has been designated as a representative festival of Korea by the Ministry of Culture, 

Sports and Tourism and has been selected as a global festival to foster Korea, advancing overseas.
