Caravaggio brought about a major stylistic and cultural change. Still a current figure, his works continue to excite four hundred years after his death. This exhibition presents some of his masterpieces to mark a journey from his training in Lombardy to his affirmation in Rome and Naples and to the final years of his tragic existence.
Along the way, you will encounter masters that accompanied his painting reform towards naturalism, and others who chose different ways, bringing cross-pollination to seventeenth-century figurative culture and making it rich and eclectic, while others still remained anchored to the late-Mannerist tradition.
