Overview

The Korea Manhwa Museum is a cultural complex dedicated to the heritage of Korean comics (Manhwa). It features a wide array of exhibitions ranging from the earliest 20th-century cartoons to modern digital webtoons. The facility includes an exhibition hall, a specialized manhwa library, and a 4D theater, offering an immersive experience that celebrates the imagination and creativity of Korean comic artists.

History

Opened in 2001 to promote the comic industry, the museum moved to its current large-scale location in the Bucheon Image Culture District in 2009. It is operated by the Korea Manhwa Contents Agency (KOMACON) and serves as the main venue for the Bucheon International Comics Festival (BICOF). Over the years, it has become a sanctuary for preserving rare manuscripts and classic comic books, some of which are registered as national cultural heritage.
