Seorabeol Cultural Center

Overview

Seorabeol Cultural Center is a comprehensive arts facility that has served as Gyeongju's primary cultural venue for decades. The center features a large auditorium with 494 seats, various exhibition spaces, and recently repurposed creative zones. It is a place where tradition meets modernity, hosting everything from traditional Goryeo and Silla music performances to contemporary photo exhibitions and children's musicals.

History

The center opened its doors on May 21, 1979. For over 30 years, it was the only major performance hall in downtown Gyeongju until the Gyeongju Arts Center opened in 2010. In 2021, its exhibition hall was transformed into the "Gyeongbuk Music Creation Center" to support local artists. Most recently, in late 2025, the building's exterior was upgraded with high-quality night illumination and gobo lighting as part of the preparations for the APEC Summit.
