Suseongmot

Overview

Suseongmot Lake is a man-made reservoir originally built for agricultural purposes that has evolved into one of Daegu's most iconic leisure destinations. Surrounded by the gentle slopes of Mt. Yongjibong, the lake features a 2km-long walking trail, diverse entertainment facilities, and a vibrant dining district known as 'Deulangil Food Town' nearby. It is famous for its stunning night views and the large-scale musical fountain.

History

Established in 1925 during the Japanese colonial period, the lake was designed by Mizusaki Rintaro to provide irrigation for the Suseong Plain. While its agricultural role ended in the late 20th century, the city began a major ecological restoration project in the 2000s. Today, it stands as a successful example of urban green space initiative, preserving both its historical significance and natural ecosystem.

• **Musical Fountain**: One of the largest fountains in Korea, performing a synchronized show of water, music, and colorful laser lights (Operating from May to October).

• **Dusanpokpo Falls**: A beautiful artificial waterfall located near the lake that provides a refreshing atmosphere, especially during the hot Daegu summers.

• **Lakeside Promenade**: A well-paved 2,020-meter trail perfect for jogging or a romantic evening stroll under the cherry blossoms in spring or illuminated trees in winter.

• **Suseong Land (Artese Land)**: A charming retro-style amusement park on the lakeside offering rides like the Viking ship, bumper cars, and a carousel.
