Opened in September 2011, the Gyeonggi Children's Museum is the first independent children's museum in South Korea. It is a dedicated space where children are encouraged to develop their dreams and fresh ideas through communication and participation. Under the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation, the museum was established to move away from traditional "look-only" museums toward a fully interactive, "hands-on" model. It has evolved by incorporating feedback from its "Children's Advisory Group," ensuring that the exhibits remain relevant to children's actual interests.
