Hwanho Park

Overview

Hwanho Park is the largest park in Pohang, offering a perfect blend of nature, art, and adventure. Situated on a hill overlooking Yeongilman Bay, it provides breathtaking views of the sea and the Pohang steelworks. The park has become a global sensation since the opening of the "Space Walk," a roller-coaster-like walkable sculpture that allows visitors to "walk on the clouds."

History

Hwanho Park was established in 2001 to provide a high-quality cultural and recreational space for citizens. In 2021, the park underwent a major transformation with the completion of the "Space Walk," a massive 333-meter-long steel structure designed by German artists Heike Mutter and Ulrich Genth. This structure was manufactured and donated by POSCO, symbolizing the harmony between the city of steel and its people.

• The **Space Walk**: An experiential art installation with 717 stairs that peak at 25 meters, offering a 360-degree panoramic view of the coast.

• The **Ocean View Deck**: A scenic spot within the park that overlooks the famous Yeongildae Beach and the POSCO steel mill lights at night.
